Duration: 1-Year Contract
HiPaaS is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Java Engineer to develop and maintain scalable, distributed systems that power critical healthcare and enterprise solutions. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and are passionate about building robust backend architectures with modern tools and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
Build RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints for seamless data access and integration.
Implement secure authentication and authorization workflows using JWT and OAuth.
Develop event-driven microservices leveraging Kafka and asynchronous communication patterns.
Write comprehensive unit, integration, and BDD tests using JUnit and Cucumber-JVM.
Collaborate with DevOps and cloud engineers to containerize services with Docker and deploy via Kubernetes.
Optimize performance and reliability of services operating in Azure Cloud.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
Participate in architectural discussions, peer code reviews, and agile ceremonies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
6–8 years of experience in backend software development, including distributed systems.
Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and REST API design.
Hands-on experience with Kafka, MongoDB or DynamoDB, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Expertise in test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD) using JUnit and Cucumber.
Working knowledge of GraphQL, JWT, OAuth, and microservice security best practices.
Experience developing in Mac OS environments.
Solid understanding of deploying and managing applications in Azure Cloud.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment:
Hybrid role based in Seattle, WA
Onsite presence required at least 3 days per week
